Mobile devices and smart phones are increasingly popular for reading news. Last week, Ilta-Sanomat, Finland's biggest mobile service by far, reached a milestone: the amount of readers exceeded 600,000 mobile visitors. The total number was as high as 631,000 (week 35, TNS Gallup).For comparison, the same figure last year was 315,000. The growth has continued steadily but mobile use became more frequent in the summer months in particular."Our readers want to read the latest news 24/7 anywhere – with mobile platforms, we can serve our readers better," says Tapio Sadeoja, publisher and senior editor-in-chief of IS.In addition to the mobile site has also published news apps for different devices. The most important ones are Windows Phone, Android and Apple iOS. New mobile features have been and are continuously introduced in services.
