Press Release August 9, 2011Finland’s leading magazine publisher, Sanoma Magazines Finland, is to launch a new weekly with a focus on technology, the economy, and business at the beginning of next year. The title will launch with a base readership of 53,000 readers, as the Union of Professional Engineers in Finland has selected it as the new magazine for its members from the beginning of 2012. The aim of the new title will be to become the country’s number-one technology weekly.The first issue of the new title will be published in January 2012, and a total of 40 issues, each with a print run of over 60,000, will appear during the year.The new weekly will concentrate on technological, economic, and business-related subjects and will aim to keep readers abreast of the latest developments and consolidate their professional expertise. The magazine’s target audience will primarily be professionals in specialist and managerial positions.“The new title will offer readers a quality read, combining an expert approach with a style that will set the magazine off from others in the field,” says Petri Karjalainen, Sanoma Magazine Finland’s Strategy Director. “It will cover a wide range of subjects and will provide a comprehensive overview of developments in a number of different fields. The magazine’s platform will also include online services, as well as a mobile edition.”The title will launch with a strong base of readers, as the Union of Professional Engineers in Finland (UIL) has selected it as the new magazine for its members from the beginning of 2012. A total of 53,000 full-time and student members will receive the magazine delivered to their homes, and it will replace Tekniikka & Talous, published by Talentum, which they received previously.“We expect the new weekly to provide a very valuable benefit to our members,” says Pertti Porokari, Chairman of the UIL. “The concept behind the new magazine and the expertise of the team that will be responsible for it has impressed us a lot, and we believe that our members will receive a better read in the future as a result. The new agreement will also give our members substantially more benefits, as it will enable them to subscribe to other Sanoma Magazines Finland titles at discounted rates.”The aim of the new title will be to become Finland’s number-one technology weekly.
