TV operator Nelonen Media, part of Sanoma Entertainment, will strengthen its pay TV operations by launching Nelonen Sport Pro channel in February 2010 in co-operation with Viasat. Through the co-operation, Nelonen Sport Pro will benefit from the extensive and versatile sports rights owned by Nelonen Media and Viasat. Nelonen Sport Pro aims at being the best sports channel in Finnish television.
"The strategic co-operation with Viasat, part of MTG Group, opens us a possibility to sports rights in the Nordic level," comments President Anu Nissinen from Sanoma Entertainment. "Nelonen Media will be able to offer significantly more versatile sports programmes and become a strong player in pay TV market in sports," explains Nelonen Media's President Hans Edin.
Nelonen Sport Pro will offer the best of ice hockey and football as well as other sports like motor sports, tennis, golf and American football. Nelonen Sport Pro is available through most pay TV packages, both in cable TV and as free to air channel.
Nelonen Media is part of Sanoma Entertainment, the electronic media division of the Sanoma Group.
