Joris van Heukelom Appointed Ilse Media's CEO

Sanoma Uitgevers will appoint Joris van Heukelom (born 1969) as Chief Executive Officer of its subsidiary ilse media group from 28 January 2008 onwards. Van Heukelom will succeed ilse media's current CEO Paul Molenaar.

Previously, van Heukelom was Director Content Consumer Market at KPN. In this role he was responsible for the launch of the free daily newspaper DAG and the website zie.nl last year. Preceding this he was a.o. Vice President at MTV Networks Benelux and TV Director at BNN, one of the Dutch public broadcasters.

"Ilse media is the jewel in the crown of all Dutch online media. I think of it as a great honour that I have been asked to direct this company. Ilse media has several strong brands within its portfolio that in several respects engage hundreds of thousands on a daily and millions of people on a weekly basis. Combining this fact with the changing media landscape has led me to one simple conclusion: I am looking forwards to it," van Heukelom says.

"Joris has a clear vision about the role we can and should play on the internet," says Paul Molenaar. "He can lead ilse to the next phase of its existence, of which the last five years are characterised by strong growth. In this next phase enforcing synergies and expanding diverse activities takes centre stage."

Dick Molman, CEO of Sanoma Uitgevers comments: "With Joris we get tons of multimedia experience. We can use that very well to further shape our broad ambitions in this area."

Dutch-based Sanoma Uitgevers is part of Sanoma Magazines, the magazine division of the SanomaWSOY Group.
