Emmy Awards nominees were published in the US on 17 July. TV Channel Nelonen's hit series Damages, Dexter and Lost as well as Mad Men beginning in the autumn in Finland are all nominees in the category of the drama series.

Steve Carell from The Office is nominated as the lead actor in a comedy series. Carell's competitors in this nomination category are Michael C. Hall from Dexter, Jon Hamm from Mad Men and Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad – a series coming to Nelonen's repertoire.

Nominees for the lead actress in a comedy series are America Ferrera from Ugly Betty, Mary-Louise Parker from Weeds and Christina Applegate from Samantha Who?, a series beginning later on Nelonen. Glenn Close from Damages is an obvious nominee for the lead actress in a drama series.

Supporting Emmys in the comedy category are competed by Rainn Wilson from The Office, Jean Smart from the Samantha Who? and Vanessa Williams from Ugly Betty. In drama, Nelonen's male stars dominate the supporting actor category because the nominees are Ted Danson and Zeljko Ivanek from Damages, Michael Emerson from Lost and John Slattery from Mad Men. Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh from Grey's Anatomy are nominated in the category of supporting actress in a drama series.

TV Channel Nelonen is part of SWelcom, the electronic media division of the SanomaWSOY Group.
