WSOY's author Peter von Bagh won the 2007 Finlandia Prize for non-fiction with his book on Finnish culture and art.

Professor von Bagh's work, Sininen laulu. Itsenäisen Suomen taiteiden tarina, presents the Finish culture and art over a period 90 years, during the independece of Finland. The book was praised for its strong sense of presence, even though the phenomena it describes, the books, plays, paintings, films, music and people, maybe old.

The Finlandia prizes are granted by the Finnish Book Foundation. They include prizes for fiction, non-fiction and children's literature, which amount to EUR 26,000 each. The Finlandia prizes have been distributed annually since 1989.
