Cable TV and broadband operator Welho widens the reach of its pay TV services in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Households outside Welho's cable network can have the pay TV services via Welho's ADSL broadband connection.
"Welho invests heavily on developing the cable TV network and its services, but it is also strategically important to us that we can offer well-known Welho services throughout our operating area, also outside our cable TV network," says Anu Nissinen, President of Welho.
The quality of picture is the same as in cable network. The major difference between the two services is the transfer method of the TV signal, which the end users will only notice from the set-top box installation. IPTV set-top box is connected to the broadband modem where as regular digital set-top box is connected to the cable TV network.
Welho's IPTV service will start with a versatile offering. In addition to Welho's basic TV channels (18 channels) also a number of popular pay TV services are offered: CANAL+ Total, Film, and Sport (6/3/2 channels), Forte (25 channels), MiniForte (8 channels) and MTV3 channels (4 channels).
