Suomalainen Kirjakauppa has acquired the bookstore outlets in Lohja and Salo belonging to the former company Yhdistyneet Kirjakaupat - YKK Oy, now in liquidation, and will begin trading in these locations under the Suomalainen Kirjakauppa brand from 10.8.2006.
At the same time Suomalainen Kirjakauppa bought from the estate of Yhdistyneet Kirjakaupat that company's inventories and a part of the fixed assets.
Suomalainen Kirjakauppa recorded net sales in 2005 of EUR 135.3 million, and the company has 62 outlets operating under the Suomalainen Kirjakauppa name, an online portal www.suomalainen.com, two Reader's paperback bookstores, five Yliopistokirjakauppa stores, and a subsidiary in Estonia.
Suomalainen Kirjakauppa belongs to Rautakirja Corporation, which is part of the SanomaWSOY Group.
