Baltic Cinema, a subsidiary of Finnkino, opened its new Forum Cinemas multiplex theatre in Riga, the capital of Latvia, this morning. The modern multiplex is situated in the same building with Stockmann's department store, a unique business combination in Europe.

The movie theatre includes 14 screens and a total of 3,020 seats making it the biggest movie theatre in the Baltic and Nordic countries. - Our goal is to make Riga our second biggest theatre. At the moment, Tennispalatsi in Helsinki is the most popular one (1.5 million visitors per year) and Coca Cola Plaza in Tallinn holds a strong second place (1 million visitors). With the opening of the multiplex, our market share in Latvia will grow significantly from the current, some 50%, says Timo Mänty, President of Finnkino.

In addition to Latvia, Finnkino has subsidiaries both in Estonia and Lithuania and it is the market leader in all four of its operating countries. Finnkino is a subsidiary of Rautakirja and part of SanomaWSOY Group.
