Movie theatre operator Finnkino has signed a long-term lease on a multiplex in Vilnius, Lithuania. Finnkino will be in charge of the operations as of today. The theatre and the mall where it is situated is owned by UAB Vilnius Prekyba, the largest retail company in Baltic countries.
Following the contract, Finnkino’s market share in Lithuania will rise to some 50%, which is the market share level in its other operating countries Finland, Estonia, and Latvia. In 2004, almost half of Finnkino’s tickets will be sold in Baltic countries.
In addition to Lithuania, Finnkino has subsidiaries in Estonia and Latvia. Finnkino belongs to Rautakirja, which is part of SanomaWSOY Group.
