Sanoma Corporation, Stock Exchange Release, 27 September 2013 at 8:30 CET+1

Peter de Mönnink, 50, has been appointed CEO of Sanoma Media Netherlands as of 1 January 2014, and will join Sanoma’s Executive Management Group. De Mönnink (B.Sc.) is currently CEO of Reed Business Nederland & Reed Business International and Reed Construction Data (US/Canada). Dick Molman, the current CEO of Sanoma Media Netherlands, will step down on 1 November 2013 to make room for his successor, as announced earlier.

As the CEO of Sanoma Media Netherlands, De Mönnink will be responsible for the further transformation of Sanoma’s media entities towards a sustainable and successful multichannel portfolio.

“Since the acquisition of SBS Broadcasting, Sanoma is the leading media company in the Netherlands. We are the only media house with a broad portfolio of strong digital and mobile media, television, print media and events. Our next challenge is to transform this portfolio to ensure the sums are greater than the parts by developing and extending innovative digital and multichannel solutions, focusing strongly on our customers and core brands. I believe Peter is the right person to take Sanoma Media Netherlands to the next level in times when structural changes in media consumption coincide with strong economic headwind,” says Harri-Pekka Kaukonen, President & CEO of the Sanoma Group.

“At the same time I would like to thank Dick Molman for his continued commitment to Sanoma. He has had a significant role in shaping our current leading position in the Netherlands, and I wish him well for his future outside of Sanoma,” Kaukonen continues.

Peter de Mönnink has extensive experience in the media industry. He has had a long and distinguished career at Reed Elsevier. He climbed the ranks from Product Manager when he joined the company in 1988 to several key executive positions from 1998 onwards, combining in-depth media and functional knowledge with the necessary management skills. Amongst his major achievements are his roles as global Chief Strategy & Internet, which held the key responsibility for developing Reed Business’ digital business, and his current role as CEO of Reed Business Nederland & International in which he manages a large and dynamic portfolio in multiple countries.

“Sanoma is the benchmark for consumer media in the Netherlands. Its creative and committed people, strong core brands and multiple media platforms form the stepping stone to develop the business further; all elements are in place to make the right choices and transform into the next generation media company. I am very excited to start working with my new colleagues in making this happen,” De Mönnink states.

Peter de Mönnink will start on 1 January 2014. In the meantime, he will transfer his responsibilities at Reed Elsevier and start-up his new role at Sanoma.
