A jury put together by the executive research company Stanton Chase has awarded Sanoma Group for a good choice of a new member of the Board. Nancy McKinstry, member of Sanoma's Board of Directors since 5 April 2011, stood out as new board member nominations of more than 60 Finnish publicly listed companies were reviewed by the jury this spring.

McKinstry is a widely recognized international business manager with strong experience of managing strategic change processes. As the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board of Wolters Kluwer, McKinstry knows well the West-European media landscape that is strategically very relevant for Sanoma. According to the jury, Nancy McKinstry's competences offer Sanoma outstanding support in implementing its corporate strategy.

New board members were estimated according to the following criteria:
- references in the strategic focus areas of the company,
- competence and experience in relation to the board's current competencies,
- contribution to the diversity of the board and
- the abilities to invest in the board membership.

The companies' business environment, strategy and composition of the previous board were also taken into account.
