Finnish book publisher WSOY restructures its organisation of communications and marketing to answer to current challenges. The department of graphic design is merged to the communications and marketing organisation as of 2 June 2009. Restructuring aims at reacting to changes in the business environment.

"After the reorganisation we will focus increasingly on digital communication and co-operation with bookstores," says Communications and Marketing Director Tarja Virolainen.

The organisational change will be implemented in two stages: In the first phase employer-employee negotiations will start regarding 16 employees in communications and marketing. The estimated effect on personnel is 3–5 employees. The second phase will start in August and focus on restructuring the department of graphic design.

WSOY is part of the Sanoma Learning & Literature division of the Sanoma Group.
