Statutory employer-employee negotiations have been launched

Changes are planned for Nelonen News. The goal is to compress news production to better correspond to the information needs of TV audiences. The renewed construction of the news will be implemented during the summer of 2009 at the latest.

The planned changes will affect the need of productional resources; thus statutory employer-employee negotiations that concern the personnel of Nelonen News have been initiated today at Nelonen Media. They may lead to the reduction or shifting to part-time employment of current news personnel by 35.

'The news is an important part of Nelonen Media programming. The goal will be also in the future to produce high quality news that complement the channel profile and multimedia strategy of Nelonen Media as a whole,' emphasises Hans Edin, President of Nelonen.

'The role of news production in TV is important. The viewers wish for exhaustive yet compact information broadcast. We plan to deliver by holding on to the award-winning journalism of Nelonen News and by tailoring the broadcasts well,' says Eero Hyvönen, Senior Vice President of News and Current Affairs.

Nelonen Media is part of Sanoma Entertainment, a division of the Sanoma Group.
