This movie summer is going to be historically plentiful in Finland. The repertoire contains many hit movies from big American film studios and almost 10 movies are to be seen in world-wide premieres.

The repertoire of the movie theatre operator Finnkino is wide – every movie friend should find his or her favorite. The third sequels of Spider-Man and Pirates of the Caribbean started the series of block busters. In June–July, screens are filled with hit films nearly each week: Ocean's 13, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Die Hard 4.0., Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix and The Simpsons Movie.

The movie Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, for example, has broken the records of ticket receipts all over the world. In Finland, the movie also made the best opening of the year when 88,367 people saw the film during the first three days. On Friday, the movie received 33,251 spectators, which is the best Friday result ever in Finland.

The end of the summer season in August sees the arrival of family movies like Meet the Robinsons and Shrek the Third. The movies in August – Evan Almighty, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and The Bourne Ultimatum – offer comedy, adventure and action.

In recent years, hit movies have been released in the summer, also in Finland. Good examples are Spider-Man, Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars –movies, The Gladiator, Bridget Jones, The Matrix, Terminator 3 and The Da Vinci code from the last year.
