R-kiosks implement new point of sale and supply chain management system
Rautakirja Oy's Kiosk Operations and Cap Gemini Ernst &Young Finland Oy have concluded an agreement concerning a new information and supply chain management system for Rautakirja's kiosks / convenience stores. According to the agreement, the parties will define a new store and supply chain management solution suitable for kiosks and implement it during 2004-2006.
Rautakirja has approximately 750 kiosks covered by the agreement. The solution can also be delivered to Rautakirja's kiosks abroad, for example, to Estonia.
The solution will be based on a software package by the Belgian supplier Real Software. The package includes both a store point of sale system and the centralized applications needed in a supply chain business. The new package software is Java-based, and it will be customized for Rautakirja's specific needs.
"Our future solution enables a completely new, real-time operations model, which will help us to enhance supply chain operations even further. The system will also provide a firm basis for expanding our product and service selection to meet the ever changing needs of consumers," says Mr Pentti Talikka, Information Management Director at Rautakirja Kiosk Operations.
