Eija Ailasmaa, President of Sanoma Magazines Finland Oy and Executive Vice President of Sanoma Magazines B.V., will, for the time being and as of 1 August, perform the duties of CEO of Sanoma Magazines B.V. Sanoma Magazines is a division of the SanomaWSOY Group. Theo Bouwman, President of Sanoma Magazines, has announced his resignation from the post. Mr. Bouwman will join the Dutch newspaper publisher PCM Uitgevers N.V. as the Chairman of the Board.
In conjunction with Eija Ailasmaa's appointment, Hannu Syrjänen, President of SanomaWSOY, has been appointed Chairman of the Management Board of Sanoma Magazines B.V. Pim de Wit, President and CEO of Sanoma Uitgevers, has been appointed to the membership of SanomaWSOY's Management Group. Eija Ailasmaa will also continue as a member of SanomaWSOY's Management Group.
Raili Mäkinen, Executive Vice President of Sanoma Magazines Finland, will, for the time being, perform the duties of President of Sanoma Magazines Finland.
Sanoma Magazines is the biggest division of the SanomaWSOY Group, with some 240 titles in nine European countries. Its head office is located in the Netherlands. Sanoma Magazines is the market leader in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary and the Netherlands. The division's net sales totalled EUR 986.2 million (pro forma) in 2001.
