SanomaWSOY's subsidiary group, Rautakirja Oyj, has just issued the following stock exchange release:
The Supervisory Board of Rautakirja Oyj has at its latest meeting appointed Erkki Järvinen to become the companys new President and CEO with effect from 30.3.2001. Hannu Syrjänen, who has held the position for the past three years, was appointed yesterday as President and COO of Rautakirjas parent company, SanomaWSOY.
Erkki Järvinen (born 6.4.1960) has worked for Rautakirja since 1997 in the role of Senior Vice President and Director of the Kiosk Division. Prior to this he acquired a sound understanding of commercial life in sales & marketing positions within the foodstuffs industry, in Oy Fazer Ab and Cultor Oy.
During Erkki Järvinens four-year tenure in Rautakirja, the Kiosk Division has embarked on an ambitious programme of internationalisation and kiosk concept diversification at the same time as the R-Kiosks have turned out improved annual profits from one year to the next. The kiosk concept has been adjusted in line with changes in consumer behaviour and preserving the role of being one step ahead of the competition in new developments.
Growth, an increasingly international perspective, and sustained profitability have been our key goals in the Kiosk Division. We have been able to succeed in these tasks through the efforts of a skilled and dedicated staff, comments Erkki Järvinen. He sees the same objectives as driving the entire Rautakirja Groups operations. I shall be taking the helm of a company that is in excellent financial shape and which has ambitious goals to develop further in the years ahead, says Järvinen, summing up his visions for the future.
At the same meeting, the Rautakirja Oyj Supervisory Board reorganised its leadership by electing from among its members the SanomaWSOY President and COO Hannu Syrjänen as Chairman, and the Chairman of the SanomaWSOY Board of Directors Jaakko Rauramo as Vice-Chairman.
