DESIGNER-DEVELOPER

to create visual journalism in Helsingin Sanomat.

We’re looking for a developer to create world class digital journalism in an ambitious and inspiring team. The core role of the position is to create immersive articles online and to make interactive visualizations of data. There’s plenty of room for creativity in making new digital journalism for an audience of millions.

We expect:

• Talent in graphic design or in visual journalism

• Talent in modern web technologies

• The ability to work in fast news situations and with non-technical teams

• Productive work experience from a comparable position

HS’s data desk is an internationally recognized forerunner in digital journalism. We create visualizations, mine data, and create tools for the editorial room. There are ample possibilities to develop and learn new skills in cloud services, UX design, and applying new technologies to journalism.

Data desk’s journalism has been awarded multiple times in competitions around the world. The team of 16 employs developers, infographic and motion graphic designers, data journalists and producers.

Helsingin Sanomat is the largest daily in the Nordics, serving two million Finns weekly with its journalism. Currently HS has more than 400 000 subscribers, most of which are already digital.
